Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) - The Evansville Otters are excited to announce that catcher Brett Chamberlain will be returning to the team after re-signing on Tuesday.
Brett started his professional career with the Otters last summer after finishing his college season in the spring and going undrafted. With a chip on his back, Chamberlain hit .258 and threw out 17% of attempted base steals before a season-ending knee injury.
"Brett Chamberlain did very well last year and he is a good defensive catcher with a strong arm," said Kevin Cope, the Evansville Otters Director of Player Personnel.
Evansville Otter manager Andy McCauley noticed a lot from Brett in those 28 games last summer and is expecting an even bigger impact this summer.
"Brett came on strong when given the opportunity to catch every day and be our frontline catcher," McCauley said. "His rehab has been going exceedingly well and we expect Brett to make a full recovery. He is slotted to begin the spring as our starting catcher behind the dish."
Chamberlain also represented the Otters in an Independent Showcase this spring with fellow teammates Alex Foltz and Dan Marcacci.
Tickets are now on sale for the 8th annual exhibition game benefitting Jacob's Village. The game will be played on Friday, May 11 at Historic Bosse Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm.
General admission price is $4.00 as reserved seats will be selling for $6.00
Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.
