
Grizzlies Sign Defenseman Mike Banwell

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has signed defenseman Mike Banwell.
Banwell, 29, has played in 228 professional games including 132 in the ECHL, 68 in the AHL and 28 games last year in Sweden. Prior to time in the New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks and Columbus Blue Jackets minor league systems, he played four years at the University of Maine. He has played in the ECHL with Trenton, Reading and Greenville.
"Mike is a great leader and will play in all situations," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "We are fortunate to add someone with as much experience as he has."
The Grizzlies open the 2016-2017 season Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 against Idaho at Maverik Center.
