
Grizzlies rock RiverHawks for win

The Gateway Grizzlies (7-7) took game two of a three-game set from the division-leading Rockford RiverHawks (9-5) 11-1 Thursday night. The win came in front of 3,681 fans at GCS Ballpark.
Erik Dessau (3-0) went six innings for the win. Dessau gave up a run on five hits. He struck out six and walked just one. The run is the only earned run Dessau has allowed in over 20 innings pitched.
Trailing 1-0, the Grizzlies scored five runs in the fourth inning off of Rockford starter Dane Towery (1-2). They would add two more in the fifth and four more in the sixth for the win.
Mike Breyman led the way for the Grizzlies at the plate. Breyman was 3-4 with three RBIs. Mike Martin was 2-4 with two RBIs. Kevin House was 2-4 with two RBIs. Taylor Johnson was 2-5 with an RBI. Brooks Colvin also had an RBI for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies and 'Hawks will play the rubber match of the three-game set Friday night at GCS Ballpark. Lefty Todd Stein will toe the rubber for the Grizzlies. Start time is 7:05 p.m.
