SAUGET, IL. - The Grizzlies trailed 4-1 early against the Frontier Greys, but they rallied to tie the game and then won it in extra innings 5-4 at GCS Ballpark on Wednesday night.

Tommy Richards laid down a perfect bunt and Madison Beaird cruised across home plate with the game's winning run on a suicide squeeze play during the tenth inning.

Trailing 4-1 heading into the sixth inning, the Grizzlies (48-41) rallied for two runs in the sixth and then tied the game on a TJ Bennett solo home run in the seventh inning.

Gateway's bullpen tossed four scoreless innings in relief of starting pitcher JaVaun West (7-2), who lasted for six innings and allowed three earned runs. Gateway relievers Luke Westphal, Brett Zawacki, Richard Barrett, and Dejai Oliver each pitched a scoreless inning.

The Greys (29-59) got the scoring started early with a two-run homer from Joe Rapp in the first inning. Beaird slapped an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning against Greys' starting pitcher Lamarre Rey (3-6) to make it 2-1. The Greys tacked on a pair of runs in the third and sixth inning.

In the tenth inning, Beaird drew a leadoff walk against Greys' reliever Cameron Lamb to put the winning run on base. Michael Wing singled with one out, when a bobble by Greys' left fielder Jon Minucci allowed Beaird to advance to third base and Wing to second base.

Lamb intentionally walked Richard Seigel, which brought up Richards. On the second pitch he saw, Richards squared to bunt as Beaird dashed for home.

The Grizzlies snapped a four-game skid, and improved to 27-19 at GCS Ballpark this season.

The Grizzlies and Greys play the rubber game of their series on Thursday at GCS Ballpark. Right-hander Tucker Jensen (8-4, 4.13) makes the start for Gateway at 6:35 CST.
