SAUGET, IL-The Gateway Grizzlies rallied for three runs in the eighth inning Wednesday night to defeat the Midwest Sliders 5-4 in front of 3,314 at GCS Ballpark. The Grizzlies won the first and final game of the series for their fourth series win in their last five.

With the Grizzlies trailing 4-2 going into the eighth, Charlie Lisk led off with a single. Chad Rothford reached on a fielder's choice. Jareck West came into pinch run for Rothford at first. Joe Agreste tripled to the left field corner driving in both Lisk and West. Danny Morrow followed with a sacrifice fly to left, driving in Agreste with the winning run.

The Grizzlies (22-31) got on the board with a Charlie Lisk sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Brandon Peters added an infield hit to drive in a run in the seventh. Peters was 2-4 with a double and the RBI. Lisk was 2-3. He drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

The Sliders (25-27) took an early lead. Zack Pace homered leading off the game for Midwest. Robbie Knapp drove in a pair of runs in the third to make it 3-0. Joash Brodin extended the Midwest lead to 4-0 with a solo home run leading off the sixth.

Mark Brackman tossed eight innings for the win. He allowed four runs, two earned, on seven hits. He struck out eight. Joel Boeschen earned his third save of the year with a perfect ninth inning. He struck out Roberto Mena to end the night.

The Grizzlies will travel to Evansville, Indiana to begin a three-game series with the Otters Thursday night. First pitch Thursday night is 7:05 pm.
