Grizzlies Nab Five Post-season Awards

The Frontier League announced its 2007 post-season All-Star team and award winners Friday morning and the Gateway Grizzlies took home five awards.

First baseman Mike Breyman, outfielder Jonathan Armitage, and designated hitter Dustin Roberts took home position awards while Head Trainer Geof Manzo was named Trainer of the Year and General Manager Tony Funderburg was named Executive of the Year.

Breyman, coming into Friday is batting .328. In 326 at bats he has 21 doubles, 21 home runs, and has batted in 67 runners. Mike is fourth in the Frontier League with a .586 slugging percentage.

Armitage, coming into Friday is batting .331 with 22 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, and 55 runners batted in. Jonathan also leads the Frontier League in on-base percentage with a .447 percentage and is fifth in the league with a .573 slugging percentage.

Roberts, coming into Friday is hitting .301. He has 18 doubles and a Frontier League leading 29 home runs. Dustin has driven in 72 runners (Tied for third in the Frontier League). Dustin leads the league with 47 extra-base hits, 83 runs scored, and is third in the league with a .604 slugging percentage.

Armitage, Roberts, and Manzo are first-time Frontier League Post-Season award winners. Breyman collected the Fran Riordan Citizenship Award in 2006.

As for Funderburg, this is the third time in his seven years in the Frontier League to be named Executive of the Year. He was also named it in 2003 and 2005.
