The sixth-seeded Grizzlies again open a series on the road against the second-seeded and West Division Champion Victoria Salmon Kings. Utah went 3-0 away from the E-Center in the first round led by goaltender Nathan Lawson who went 4-2 starting all six games.

Rob Sirianni and Keith Johnson lead Utah in the playoffs with three goals each. Sirianni scored Utah's first goal in three of the six games in the Fresno series. Johnson had two game-winning goals for Utah and added the series clinching empty-netter in the final minute of Monday's victory.

The Grizzlies on Monday won their first playoff series since the 1996-97 season when they swept the Kansas City Blades in the IHL 3-0 in the first round. Utah had not won a best-of-seven playoff series since their Turner Cup Championship clincher over Orlando in 1995-96.
