Stingrays Blanked 3-0, Must Win On Tap

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays were shut out by the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-0 in game four of their best of five game series at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
"I thought we played well in the second period," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "We will have to play better tomorrow if we want to move on. But, tomorrow is another day."
The first period came and went much the same today as it did yesterday. There was no scoring in the first period, and the game was scoreless going to the first intermission.
The second period featured a power play goal in the first minute by Gwinnett to make it a 1-0 game. For the next ten minutes the Rays pounded the net, by Craig Kowalski turned everything aside. After the 11 minute mark the Gladiators got their second goal of the period, off the pad of Josh Johnson. It was soon there after that Gwinnett made it a 3-0 score with just over a minute to go in the period.
The third period was scoreless, but with South Carolina taking five penalties in the period, never game themselves a chance to make a comeback.
The winning goaltender was Kowalski who stopped all 31 shots that he faced. The losing goaltender was Johnson who stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced. The Rays went 0-3 on the power play while killing off nine of the ten short handed situations they faced.
The Rays will be back in action tomorrow night for a decisive game five at the North Charleston Coliseum. Game time will be at 7:05.
