
Grizzlies Host Triple-A Dodgers, Rangers Starting Friday

FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants, return home Friday, August 12th for their second to last homestand of the season, an eight-game stretch at Chukchansi Park.
The Grizzlies first host the Triple-A affiliates of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Albuquerque Isotopes, for the first time in two years. The homestand finishes with four games against the Triple-A affiliate of the 2010 AL Champion Texas Rangers, the Round Rock Express, in the first meeting between the clubs since the Giants defeated Texas in the World Series last year.
The homestand begins with Fresno Unified Night on Friday, August 12th. Fresno Unified Night will celebrate the passing of Measure Q, a bond which will help improve the quality of schools in the Fresno Unified School District. Events will feature a special message from Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Fresno Unified School District Superintendent Michael E. Hanson, and conclude with a spectacular Friday Night Fireworks show following the game, presented by PG&E. All fans who show up to the game wearing their school t-shirt will receive a special buy-one-get-one free ticket offer good for the best available seat in the park. Community Fund Weekend will also start on Friday and run through Sunday. During Friday night's game, fans can take home gift-wrapped mystery autographed baseballs from their favorite Grizzlies and Giants players for just $20, with proceeds benefitting the Grizzlies Community Fund (GCF). Included in the mix are balls signed by Will Clark, Nate Schierholtz, Buster Posey, Conor Gillaspie and Brett Pill.
On Saturday, August 13th, the Grizzlies will celebrate Military Appreciation Night at Chukchansi Park. The team will honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Military by donning special camouflage jerseys, which will be available for purchase in a silent auction running through 8:00pm on the concourse during the game. Winning bidders will get to meet the player whose jersey they purchased and have that jersey signed post-game on the field. All proceeds from the auction will fittingly benefit the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). In addition, the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a Grizzlies Greats Players Card Set, courtesy of DAV. This unique card set will feature star players from this year's Grizzlies team.
The Grizzlies will celebrate another Save Mart Sunday, presented by Save Mart Supermarkets, on Sunday, August 14th. For the lone 6:05pm first pitch start time of the homestand, the festivities will include a pregame Future Giants Autograph Session, as well as Catch & Photos On The Field! The fun doesn't end there, as Kids Run The Bases after the game. Plus, as part of Community Fund Weekend, fans will have an opportunity to purchases everything from Limited Edition stadium signage to vintage promotional items at the Grizzlies Garage Sale, with proceeds benefitting the GCF. All items will be priced to move!
Monday, August 15th is your last chance to enjoy the most comprehensive family entertainment package in the Valley! Wednesday, August 17th is another World Champion Wednesday, presented by The Fresno Bee, continuing the Grizzlies' year-long celebration of the Giants' World Championship. As with every Wednesday this season, one lucky fan will win a trip for four to see the Giants play at AT&T Park and a free night's stay at the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco. Plus, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a special Giant oversized baseball card, featuring Travis Ishikawa, presented by Disabled American Veterans. It will also be another Wine Glass Wednesday at Chukchansi Park, as every glass of CRU wine comes with a free stemless wine glass, courtesy of the CRU Wine Company.
Thirsty Thursday, presented by Tecate and Tecate Light, returns Thursday, August 18th. As they are at every Thursday home game, 12-ounce Tecate and Tecate Light beers are just $1 through the fifth inning, and 12-ounce sodas are just $1 all night long. Gates open at 6:05pm, so don't forget to show up early!
The homestand concludes as it began on Friday, August 19th, with another display of Friday Night Fireworks, presented by AT&T. That night, you can also support Children's Hospital Central California by tossing your change into donation stations or giving it to a roaming change bandit. Plus, four dollars from each pre-sold ticket and one dollar from each walk-up ticket sold goes to Children's. After Friday, the Grizzlies will have only five remaining home games in the 2011 season.
