Grizzlies Head To Alaska, Before Weekend Off

The Situation

After splitting four games in five nights Tuesday-Saturday, Utah is now 8-4-0-3 in their last 15 games (26-23-2-5 overall) as they go into the final 16 games of the year.

If The Playoffs Started Today....

With 34 days left in the regular season, the Grizzlies would currently be matched up with the Stockton Thunder in a best-of-five first round series that would see Utah own home ice advantage.

February

Utah went 7-4-0-3 in February to finish second only to November (9-4-0-0) for their best month of the year. Utah is now 34-22-11 all-time in February since joining the ECHL; their best month in team ECHL history.

10-Hour Four-Day Work Week

The Grizzlies will enjoy Friday and Saturday off at home this weekend. It marks the first time this year that they will have a full weekend off and the first time since October 31 that they will have not played on a Saturday.

Strong Special Teams

The Grizzlies enter the week with the league's top ranked power-play (22.2-percent) and sixth-best penalty-kill which currently stands at 82.5-percent.

A Penalty-Killing Success Story

After entering action January 9 ranked last in the ECHL (20th) on the penalty-kill, Utah has advanced all the way to the sixth spot. Utah has also set a season-high by not allowing a power-play goal in four-straight games and killing 24 of their last 25 shorthanded situations over their last six games.

Nine-Game Scoring Streak

James Sixsmith has set a Utah season-high with a nine-game scoring streak with six goals and 11 assists during that stretch in which he is also second in the league in scoring overall.

Player of the Week Candidate?

James Sixsmith had two goals and seven assists for nine points in four games last week to lead the ECHL in scoring.

Scoring Consistency

AJ Perry has scored in 14 of his last 16 games for Utah and has five goals and 16 assists during that stretch.

Anchorage Winning Streak?

Utah heads to Anchorage for only their second midweek series ever in search of their first winning streak ever at the Sullivan Arena. Utah won 5-1 on January 9 in their last game against the Aces. Utah is 4-21-1 all-time in Alaska.

Back Home

Utah will return home for three of their final six regular season home games of the year Friday, March 12; Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14 (4:05 p.m.) when they will complete a stretch of five-straight games at home against Stockton.
