Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals will play the final two games of their eight-game home stand on Friday and Saturday at First Arena. The Jackals host the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday night while welcoming the Kalamazoo Wings to Elmira for the first time since March of 2007 on Saturday. The K-Wings were opponents of the Jackals in the United Hockey League from 2000-2007. Both games start at 7:35 p.m.
Elmira plays its first road game since Feb. 13 when it travels to Johnstown on Sunday for a 2:05 p.m. game. The Jackals have won six consecutive road games.
The Jackals split their two games this past weekend, defeating the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday, 4-1, after falling to the Trenton Devils on Friday night by a score of 3-1.
Through the first six games of the home stand, Elmira is 4-2-0-0, and has won 13 of the last 16 games and have taken points in 14 of those games since Jan. 22.
Elmira holds a nine-point lead over the Reading Royals for the top spot in the American East Division after the Royals won in Johnstown on Sunday to reclaim second place after losing it on Saturday.
TYLER DONATI LEADS ECHL IN FEBRUARY
Tyler Donati was the ECHL's leading scorer in the month of February, pacing the league with 12 goals and 24 points in 11 games. Tyler leads the ECHL with 87 points through Elmira's first 55 games of 2009-2010, just six away from Randy Murphy's Jackals-record of 93 points, set in 2002-2003.
BOY SCOUT NIGHT ON FRIDAY
Friday's game is the Boy Scout Night at the Jackals. For $11, Boy Scouts and their families and friends can come watch the Jackals take on the Chiefs. There is an additional charge for a food voucher. After the game, Boy Scouts are invited to sleep over at First Arena for a total of $17, with ticket and food included in the cost.
