
Condors In The Community: Condors Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday

This Week In Condorstown:
Tuesday, Mar. 2
Legendary author Dr. Seuss would have turned 110 years old on this day and the Condors are getting involved with the Read Across America celebration. Baby Calwill visit Beardsley Elementaryon 1001 Roberts Lane from 8-9:30 a.m., acting out Dr. Seuss books in front of students. Meanwhile, Colonel Claw'dwill be doing the same over at Virginia Avenue School, located at 3301 Virginia Avenue, from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Thursday, Mar. 4 The Condors Coach's Show, hosted by Media, will air from 5-6 p.m on ESPN Radio 1230. The show will be recorded on the road and will include Head Coach Marty Raymond and Condors players (TBA).
Friday, Mar. 5
Read Across America week ends with a triple billing. Baby Cal will head north to Princeton Street School, located on 1959 Princeton Street, and act out more Dr. Seuss books from 8:30-10 a.m.
Back in Bakersfield, Colonel Claw'dwill make two stops. He'll visit North Beardsley Elementaryon 900 Sanford Drive from 8:30-9:15. He'll quickly fly across town to the Richardson Center, located at 2145 Niles Street, for a reading from 9:45-10:15.
The week that was
It was a busy week in Condorstown on the community side. The 10thAnnual Tip-A-Condor kicked things off on Tuesday at Rabobank Arena. The entire team participated in a night of serving, dining and joyous entertainment to help benefit the Kern Country Shrine Club. D Eric Reganrocked out at karaoke, throwing in a few dance moves during his rendition of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." LW Ryan Donallydoubled as server and unofficial team spokesman, going table to table to meet fans and chat with them. Auction items like a Timo Pielmeier jersey office chair and Matt Pope'sprison jersey from the 2008-09 season were among the more sought after items during the auction.
Events later in the week included a Valley Bible Fellowship Condors fundraiser kick off, in which forwards Maxime Macenauer and Mathieu Aubinvisited a few classrooms to talk about growing up playing hockey in Canada. They were joined by Colonel Claw'd, who was also undoubtedly a big hit.
The week concluded with a pair of readings at elementary schools, including Miller Elementary and Munsey Elementary. Baby Calentertained the students by acting out one her favorite books, We're Going on a Bear Hunt.
Sign up for the 6thAnnual Hockey-Thon
The Condors are proud to host the 6thAnnual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon, to benefit Links for Life, the weekend of March 19-20. The event includes 24-plus hours of ice hockey and auctions to help benefit Links for Life.
To participatein the Hockey-Thon, players can register by clicking here, then printing out the donations sheet and begin collecting pledges. Aminimum of $200 is required to play. All participants will play in several games during the event and receive two tickets to the Condors games on Mar. 19 and Mar. 20, while the top three pledge collectors will split 15 lower level tickets to a Los Angeles Kings game, with transportation included. The first 200 sign-ups will receive a free 6th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon jersey.
