WASHINGTON, PA - The Gateway Grizzlies scored six runs in the sixth and cruised to a 10-4 victory over the Washington Wild Things at CONSOL Energy Park on Sunday night. The win was the second in a row for Gateway and gave them their second series win of the season against Washington.

Gateway (19-28) got on the board with the game's first run in the third inning. After Landon Hernandez walked to lead off the inning, DJ Fitzgerald drove him in to give Gateway a 1-0 lead.

The Grizzlies extended their lead to 7-0 in the fifth inning. Gateway sent 12 hitters to the plate and scored six runs on six hits and two errors in the process, while leaving the bases loaded. Kent Gerst, Joe Agreste, Chris Sedon and Brian Harris all drove in runs for Gateway in the fifth.

The Wild Things notched their first run in the fifth, but Gateway responded with two more in the sixth on a Charlie Lisk two-run double.

Washington (19-27) scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh, but couldn't pull any closer.

Jake Donze got the start for Gateway, but had to leave after 3 2/3 because of an apparent injury. Corey Davisson (1-2) threw 2 2/3 innings and got the win for Gateway.

For the second straight game, Fitzgerald paced the Grizzlies offense, going 4-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Agreste, Lisk and Hernandez also enjoyed multi-hit games.

The Grizzlies are now off until Friday for the Frontier League All-Star Break. The Grizzlies resume action at home on Friday with a 7:05 contest against the Florence Freedom.
