O'Fallon, Mo. - Rascals' ace and all-star starter Zack Sterner won his sixth game and the offense rode the momentum generated from some stellar defensive plays en-route to a 6-2 win to close out the first half.

With the Rascals (33-14) leading 3-2 heading to the fifth, the Crushers (21-26) had runners at the corners and no outs before a pop out and a botched safty squeeze play led to a double play turned by Landis Wilson who tagged a runner heading back to third and then dove to tag out the trail runner who tried to make it in to the bag. That play sparked the offense.

River City plated three runs on two hits in the fifth to stretch the lead to 6-2 before Sterner, who was on a pitch count) was removed for all-star relievers Brandon Cunniff and Kirkland Rivers who combined to shut out Lake Erie in the final three innings.

The Rascals have the next four days off for the All-Star break before returning to action on Friday with a six-game road trip that begins in Marion, Ill against the second place Miners.
