JOLIET SLAMMERS (26-20) @ NORMAL CORNBELTERS (25-22) Sunday, July 10 - 6:00 p.m. CT The Corn Crib - Normal, ILGame #47 - Road Game #24 (26-20, 11-12)

RHP #55 BILLY PETRICK (3-6, 4.70 ERA) vs. RHP #8 BOBBY PRITCHETT (5-2, 4.05 ERA)

Last Time Out...

Jake Renshaw threw the first complete game in franchise history and the Joliet Slammers beat the Normal CornBelters by a final score of 6-2 Saturday night. Frank Martinez hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give Normal the lead, but the Slammers rallied, getting an unearned run in the second and a David Fox two-RBI single in the fifth that gave them the lead for good. Ben Hewett had a nice day in his return to the lineup, going 2-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Brad Netzel also tallied a multi-hit game as he went 2-4. Renshaw retired the final seven batters he faced. He scattered seven hits, giving up two runs, both earned, walking two and striking out six. It was a one-run game until the eighth as the Slammers got some insurance. Hewett singled home Kyle Maunus who had started the inning with a walk. Then Bobby Leeper singled in Hewett. Joliet stayed in 1st place with the win.

For Starters...

Billy Petrick is coming off of a gutsy victory over Southern Illinois where he went seven innings, giving up six hits, five runs, four earned, walking three and striking out four. He's won two of his last three decisions. Loyal Cubs fans might remember Petrick. He played for them just four years ago. The 27-year old from Morris, Illinois was selected by Chicago in the third round of the 2002 Amateur Draft. Petrick made a big splash in 2007. He started the year in Daytona and after six strong games was promoted to Double-A Tennessee. With the Smokies he was 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 18 games before moving up to the Iowa Cubs. After only nine games with Iowa, Petrick got the call every player dreams of hearing: he was going to "The Show." Petrick stepped on the mound for the first time at baseball's highest level on June 27, 2007 at Wrigley Field against the Colorado Rockies. He held opponents scoreless in five out of eight appearances. Since his time with the Cubs, Petrick spent 2008 with Daytona before being granted free agency. He pitched effectively for the Windy City ThunderBolts in 2009 until surgery ended his season. After a short stint with the Jackhammers last year, Petrick is ready to go with the Slammers.

Road Warriors?

With their win yesterday, the Slammers now have a three game road winning streak, their longest of the season. In addition, if they win today they'll move to a .500 mark on the road as they currently sit at 11-12. A win today would also be the first road sweep of the year for the Slammers.

Scenario...

In 18 AB's with runners in scoring position during his first professional season, David Fox has nine hits and 14 RBI. Brad Netzel has also been very good in the clutch as he is hitting .368 in 38 AB's with runners in scoring position.

Craziness...

The Slammers have 16 comeback wins this season but are only 4-18 when trailing after six. When they lead after six, opponents might as well give up as the Slammers have a 18-0 mark in that scenario.

Hey now you're an all-star...

The Slammers have four players headed to the 2011 Frontier League All-Star Game in Avon, Ohio, which will take place on July 13. Three of the players have local connections. Oak Lawn native Erik Lis will start for the East Division at first base. The slugger has a team-high 9 HR and 38 RBI on the season. New Lenox native Josh Flores will start in the outfield. He has a team-leading 16 stolen bases and has saved numerous runs with his glove and his arm. Joliet native Ryan Quigley leads the league in saves with 15 and is the Slammers' lone pitcher on the All-Star roster. Last but not least, rookie outfielder Bobby Leeper made the team as a reserve thanks in large part to his .876 OPS.
