The Gateway Grizzlies got another good start from Nathan Roush and defeated the Washington WildThings 6-2 Thursday night in Washington, PA. The win was the first-ever regular season victory for the Grizzlies in Washington. They were 0-5 in the regular season before tonight's win. They had won a playoff game in Washington in 2003.
The Grizzlies are now 16-25. Washington is 24-17.
Roush (2-1) went seven innings allowing two runs on just four hits. He walked six, and struck out four in the win. Marcus Barriger went the final two innings. Barriger did not allow a run on three hits. He struck out one for his second save of the year.
The Grizzlies scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed in the game. The added two runs in the fourth and two more in the ninth.
Ben Margalski led the way for the Grizzlies. Margalski was 3-5 with a pair of RBIs. Phil Warren, Freddy Lopez, Brandon Averill and Oscar Vargas each added single RBIs for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies will try to win their first series in Washington when the two teams meet Friday night. Game time is 6:05, central time.
