Grizzlies Complete Sweep with 4-2 Win

West Valley City, Utah - Mitch Maxwell scored 2 goals, including the game clinching empty net goal with 46 seconds left as the Utah Grizzlies win 4-2 to complete a 3 game sweep of the Idaho Steelheads at Maverik Center.

Ryan Walters got the scoring started as he got his 13th of the season 6:17 into the first period. Mitch Maxwell added his first of the season 2 minutes later. It stayed 2-0 until Idaho's Keegan Kanzig scored 8:11 into the second period.

Caleb Herbert scored his 25th goal of the season 10:56 into the second as he got a pass from Jake Marchment to make it a 3-1 Utah lead. Josh Anderson also got an assist for Utah.

Idaho scored a short handed goal as Steven McParland skated behind the Grizzlies defense for his 20th goal of the season late in the second period.

Good defense and goaltending on both sides ruled the third period. Utah put the game away on Maxwell's 2nd goal of the game with 46 seconds left. Utah won 4-2 to complete the 3 game sweep of the Steelheads. Utah now has a 4 point lead in first place in the Mountain division.

Kevin Carr got the win for Utah, stopping 23 of 25 shots. Carr's record goes to 17-5-2 on the year.

The Grizzlies continue the 6 game homestand next Friday and Saturday for Grizzlies Fight Cancer Weekend Presented by Stadler as they take on the Kansas City Mavericks. 7 pm face-off both nights. Tickets are available at utahgrizzlies.com or the Maverik Center box office.
