Grizzlies Blank Victoria Again: Win 4th Straight

West Valley City Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (19-9-3-1) shutout the Victoria Salmon Kings 2-0 Saturday night at Maverik Center as J.P. Lamoureux earned his second shutout in two nights and the Grizzlies won their fourth-straight game.

For just the second time this year, the Grizzlies entered the third period scoreless with their opposition and for the second-straight situation they emerged victorious.

Nick Tuzzolino (7) broke the scoreless tie 6:45 into the third period and 12 seconds into Utah's fourth power-play of the night as he ripped a rope in and out of the net from the high-slot. Brent Gauvreau and Tom May picked up assists.

Utah took a 2-0 lead just over ten minutes later at 17:18 when Brock Wilson picked up a turnover at center ice and fed Marcus Carroll and Chris Donovan for a two-on-owe rush. Carroll went to Donovan who returned the favor back to Carroll as he buried his seventh goal of the season.

Utah outshot Victoria 15-5 in the third period and 39-27 in the game. The Grizzlies drew six-straight power-plays in the final period as well as they controlled the action in the final 20 minutes.

Lamoureux (10-6-1-0) is now tied for the league lead with three shutouts as he has blanked the opposition three times since December 10.

Utah hits the road for four-straight games starting Tuesday in Idaho. Face-off is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home for four-straight games Wednesday, January 12 when they welcome in Idaho for a 7:05 p.m. face-off.
