GREENVILLE, SC -- Jimmy Kilpatrick posted three assists, as the Greenville Road Warriors defeat the Wheeling Nailers 5-1 at the Bi-Lo Center Sunday evening.

Greenville used precision passing in the first period to race out to a 3-0 lead. Wes Cunningham scored his first goal of the season, taking a feed at the top of the crease which he slipped through the five-hole of Nailers goaltender Patrick Killeen. Blake Parlett fielded a stretch pass from across the ice, and wristed a shot past Killeen top shelf giving the Road Warriors a 2-0 lead. Greenville made it 3-0 on Marc-Olivier Vallerand's wrist shot from the slot. The goal was Vallerand's fifth against the Nailers this season.

Wheeling registered on the scoreboard at 6:30 of the second period on Dan Henningson's breakaway goal. After serving a penalty, Henningson stepped out of the box and received a long feed from Sebastien Bisaillon, which opened Henningson on the breakaway and deking past Greenville goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris, beating him five-hole.

In the third, the Nailers had their chances, but didn't receive the bounces. Greenville added to their lead with goals from Lee Baldwin and Sean Berkstresser, to walk away with the 5-1 victory. Despite the loss, the Nailers still hold a six-point lead for first place in the North Division.

The Nailers return home to WesBanco Arena on Saturday, January 8 against the Reading Royals. The first 1,000 kids aged 14 and under will receive a free Nailers back pack courtesy of BB&T. To purchase tickets call (304) 234-GOAL.
