Great Falls Voyagers News Release

Grand Junction, CO - The Voyagers eight-game road losing streak was kicked to the curb with a nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Rockies Friday night at Suplizio Field. Great Falls (10-14) improved to 4-10 on the road this season, and halted a three-game losing streak overall. Grand Junction (14-12) fell to 7-7 at home.

The Rockies opened the scoring with a leadoff, solo home run into the right field corner from Christian Koss in the bottom of the second. It was the second straight game with a homer for Koss after he hit his first of the season Thursday.

The Voyagers posted a prompt reply in the top of the third to tie it. Anderson Comas led off the frame with a double into the left field corner. After a groundout moved Comas to third, he scored on an RBI single to center by Caberea Weaver.

Great Falls took its first lead of the night with a run in the fourth as well. A leadoff solo home run by Harvin Mendoza walloped high and deep to right-center near the scoreboard put the Voyagers ahead 2-1. It was Mendoza's team-leading fourth round tripper of the season.

After Grand Junction scored the equalizer in the fifth, Great Falls reclaimed the lead with a two-run sixth. Lency Delgado reached base with an infield single to short. Luis Mieses followed with a single lined into right. An errant pickoff throw to first put the Voyagers back in front as Delgado scored all the way from second. A one-out single to center for Anderson Comas brought Mieses home for a 4-2 lead.

The Voyagers stretched the lead to 5-2 with another tally in the seventh. Kelvin Maldonado doubled to deep left-center to start the inning. Maldonado later tagged on a fly-out and went to third. Lency Delgado then brought the run in with his second infield single of the game on a slow-roller to third. The Rockies scored twice in the ninth but the tying run was left stranded at third.

Great Falls outhit Grand Junction 12-to-10. Anderson Comas had a two-hit game with two RBIs and a run. Harvin Mendoza collected two hits as well. Lency Delgado went 3-for-5 with one RBI and a run. For the Rockies, Christian Koss finished 3-for-3 and was a triple shy of the cycle.

Brayan Herrera earned the win in relief. Herrera (2-1) worked a scoreless inning and gave up one hit with one strikeout. Cayden Hatcher took the loss in relief. Hatcher (2-3) went three innings and surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Ramon Pineda posted a hold with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Nick Johnson earned his third save after he gave up two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk in the ninth inning. Great Falls plays the series finale at Grand Junction Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40. The trip then features four games in Colorado Springs against the Rocky Mountain Vibes starting with game one Sunday at 4 p.m. Great Falls returns home on July 19th to face Missoula.
