Grinnell College, Energy Team Up for Unique Doubleheader

Des Moines, IA (January 26, 2009) - Basketball fans who like high scoring, fast paced action will be in for a treat Tuesday night. Grinnell College, well known for their unique style, will play a 5pm game vs. Monmouth College at Wells Fargo Arena prior to the Iowa Energy game at 7pm.

Grinnell currently leads the nation in scoring with a 119.5-point per game average. The Pioneers are also tops in 3-point field goals per game (22.5), assists per game (23.5), steals per game (17.2) and turnover margin (plus 13.5).

The Pioneers also boast several national leaders in individual categories, including John Grotberg '09 in scoring (30.8 points per game) and 3-pointers (6.5 per game), David Arseneault '09 in assists (11.2 per game) and Matt Chalupa '12 in 3-point percentage (63.5 percent). Bobby Long '09 ranks fourth in scoring (27.3 points per game) and third in 3-pointers (5.2 per game).

Grinnell coach David Arseneault has been looking forward to the game since it was scheduled several months ago. "Since we started experimenting with our playing style 15 years ago, I have always been on the lookout for ways to give our players new experiences," said Arseneault. "The contest being played at Wells Fargo Arena is a wonderful opportunity for our players and fans to experience something a little different. We certainly appreciate the Iowa Energy and their staff for their hospitality in giving us this opportunity."

On top of seeing both games with one ticket, the Energy have announced it will be "Two for One Tuesday" for all sideline seats. Tickets that are normally $20 will be reduced to $10 for the evening.
