
Griffins to Open Playoffs against Marlies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Midwest Division champion Grand Rapids Griffins will begin their quest to "Bring It Back" by opening the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs against the Toronto Marlies in the best-of-five Western Conference Quarterfinals.
The second-seeded Griffins and seventh-seeded Marlies will stage Games 1 and 2 at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 before the series turns to Van Andel Arena on Wednesday, April 29 for the first of as many as three straight home games. The Griffins posted a 3-1 record in the season series against the Marlies, splitting a pair of games in Toronto (2-4 L on Dec. 2, 3-1 W on Feb. 4) and taking both clashes at Van Andel Arena in dominant fashion (7-1 W on Dec. 19, 7-2 W on April 4). Grand Rapids won both prior postseason meetings, beating the Marlies 4-2 in the 2013 conference semifinals on the way to the Calder Cup championship and 4-1 in the 2006 North Division Semifinals. The Griffins have achieved particular playoff success on the road against the Marlies, posting a cumulative 5-1 mark at Ricoh Coliseum.
