GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Jeff Nelson scored a power play goal and Marc Lamothe made 30 saves to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Wednesday at Van Andel Arena.
Nelson deflected a shot from the right point by Derek King past Cincinnati goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov 5:14 into the second period for the Griffins, who have lost just once in their last 14 games (9-1-4-0).
Lamothe stopped just four shots in the first period, 13 shots in the second period and 13 more in the third to record his fourth shutout of the season and third against Cincinnati. The shutout was the 10th of his career as a Griffin, moving him past Mike Fountain into sole possession of first place on the club's all-time leader list.
The Griffins, who lead the West Division with a league-leading 66 points, have given up just nine goals in their last eight games.
Bryzgalov finished with 32 saves for Cincinnati, which lost its fourth straight game against Grand Rapids.
