Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday assigned goaltender Jordan Pearce to the Grand Rapids Griffins, who announced the signings of defenseman Paul Crosty and forward Dan Charleston to professional tryouts.
Additionally, the Griffins today assigned defenseman Justin DaCosta to IHL Muskegon, and released defensemen Johann Kroll and Nick Rolls, and forwards Trent Daavettila, Eric Giosa, Mike Hedden, Brandon Naurato, Mark Nebus, Dominic Osman and Jonathan Trottier from their training camp roster.
Upon the completion of his final campaign at Notre Dame last spring, Pearce, 22, made his AHL debut in Grand Rapids' regular season finale at Peoria on April 11, 2009, stopping 33 shots in the team's 5-2 loss.
Charleston, 23, also saw action in a Griffins uniform late last season after finishing his four-year career at Nebraska-Omaha. He went scoreless with four penalty minutes in three appearances and remained with Grand Rapids as a reserve during the playoffs.
Crosty, 26, has played his entire AHL career with the Manchester Monarchs. Now entering his fourth pro season, he has put up 13 points (3-10-13) and 451 penalty minutes in 130 games.
The Griffins completed their training camp at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena today and will stage their first Grand Rapids-area practice this Monday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Griff's IceHouse. They'll have five days of preparation for their season opener next Saturday, Oct. 3 at Peoria, the first of five straight road games to begin the season.
The Griffins will make their Van Andel Arena debut on Friday, Oct. 23 against the Abbotsford Heat at 7 p.m., the start of an unprecedented three-game weekend to open their home schedule. Single-game tickets for all 40 home games are now on sale at all Star Tickets outlets, including the Zone and Meijer stores, or online through griffinshockey.com, while group, full-season and mini-plan ticket packages are available by calling the Griffins at (616) 774-4585.
