Worcester Bravehearts News Release
The Worcester Bravehearts lost a heartbreaker to the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs on Tuesday night, June 16 at Hanover Insurence Park at Fitton Field, falling by a score of 1-0. This marks the ninth straight loss for the Bravehearts since winning their first two games of the season.
The difference in the game was the pitching from the Dirt Dawgs, who held the Bravehearts to just three hits all game. Wachusett's starter David Griffen (Curry College / Hanover) picked up the win for the Dirt Dawgs, as he was almost untouchable in this game. He went seven strong innings, giving up only three hits, walking one, and striking out four batters without giving up a run.
Bravehearts' starter Greg Stagani (West Liberty / Richmond, Ohio) took the loss in this game after going five innings, giving up only the one run on six hits and striking out one. Clayton Dostal (Galveston / Richmond, Texas) kept it close for Worcester, throwing three innings in relief, only giving up two hits and striking out two.
The winning run came back in the 1st inning when Max DiTondo (Franklin Pierce / Marshfield, Coonnecticut) leadoff the game with a walk and came home on a two-Âout single from Justin Silvestro (Wheaton / Waltham). Bobby Dragon (Coppin State / Ashtabula, Ohio) went 1-3 for the Bravehearts with a double.
The Bravehearts will once again look to break out of this slump as they host the North Shore Navigators at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 17th at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. Tickets for all future Bravehearts games are available at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling (508) 438-Â3773.
