
Grider Returns with Three Hits But AirHogs Slip in Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas - The Texas AirHogs dropped the second game in a four-game set at Lawrence Dumont Stadium Friday, falling to the Wichita Wingnuts 12-3.
Casio Grider finished the game with three hits and an RBI. He drove in one of three runs for the AirHogs in the top of the eighth inning, where Texas drew within 6-3 before a six-run bottom of the eighth explosion by the Wingnuts offense put the game out of reach. The game was the first with Grider in the starting lineup since July 9.
Miguel Rosario (1-7) got the start for the AirHogs and allowed eight hits and four runs (four earned) over four innings. Jordan Cooper (5-4) picked up the win after holding the AirHogs scoreless over the game's first seven innings. He was tagged for three runs (two earned) before exiting the game in the eighth. He was relieved by Brady Bowen, who pitched the final two frames, and picked up his first save.
Logan Watkins led the way for the Wingnuts with three hits and three runs scored. Zach Nehrir and Abel Nieves each finished with three RBIs. The Wingnuts outhit the AirHogs 16-8.
Ran Song starred for Texas in relief, notching 1.2 innings of scoreless work after Cui Enting surrendered two runs. The Wingnuts got to Sean Stutzman in the eighth to put the game away.
Texas (14-37) continues the series in Wichita (32-20) tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Meng Weiqiang (4-4, 3.64 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs vs. RHP Charlie Gillies (4-1, 2.63 ERA) for the Wingnuts. A live broadcast of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
