Edmonton Elks News Release

Edmonton, AB – "Wild ‘n Woolly" was launched today as the theme for the Grey Cup 2002 Party, to be held in Edmonton November 20 to 24, 2002. The Wild ‘n Woolly logo is designed to celebrate both the long history of this highly significant sports event and the hearty spirit of those who support it.

The ball represented in the logo is clearly well used, but still very much in play. The scarf reminds us that in an age of sports lounges and indoor heated viewing facilities, there are still fans who like to experience the game the way the players do with the elements very much apart of it. They also like to go a little crazy and bring their heated enthusiasm to the late fall chill...and this leads to the Wild ‘n Woolly theme. The accompanying advertising campaign features the slogan "Hot Dogs, Frozen Buns" and a visual of some fun-loving football party-goers.

"The Wild ‘n Woolly logo perfectly captures the atmosphere of the Grey Cup Party planned for the week, from the Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, November 20 through to the big game itself on November 24," Bill Gardiner, Chairman of Grey Cup 2002 Inc. said. "Together with the "Hot Dogs, Frozen Buns" advertising campaign, the Wild ‘n Woolly theme captures the party atmosphere that the organizing committee has set out to plan and the fact that Edmontonians and Canadians are always eager to put on their woollies to enjoy this great Canadian tradition."

"LOTTO 6/49 is excited to reveal that working along with the CFL and the Grey Cup 2002 Organizing Committee they have finalized plans for drawing a $6.49 million winner at the Grey Cup Game on November 24, 2002," Dr. Bob Westbury, Chairman of Western Canada Lottery Corporation announced. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Canada's most popular lottery game, LOTTO 6/49 players from across Canada will have a chance to win an exciting trip for two to the Grey Cup – where one bonus winner will win $6.49 million during half-time at the Championship Game. A consolation prize of $2 million will be shared equally between the remaining bonus winners. All participants will receive $1,649 and Roots Wear clothing for the Half-time Draw. On every LOTTO 6/49 draw in October (nine draws), LOTTO 6/49 will select six special sets of Bonus Numbers (in addition to the regular numbers drawn). LOTTO 6/49 players who match a Bonus set of numbers – and claim their prize by November 15th – can enjoy the excitement of the Edmonton Grey Cup and participate in the $6.49 million draw.

"While there are a limited amount of $165.00 single tickets left, there are still plenty of tickets and good seats at the $140.00 and $80.00 levels available," stated Rick LeLacheur, member of the Grey Cup 2002 Organizing Committee, when giving an update on ticket sales. "Tickets are expected to continue to sell quickly. We encourage those who have not yet purchased their tickets to do so soon to avoid disappointment."

Having hosted Grey Cup in 1984 and 1997, this is the 3rd time that Edmonton has hosted this great Canadian tradition. Tickets are reasonably priced at $80.00, $140.00 and $165.00 and can be purchased at the Edmonton Eskimos Team Store at 9023 – 111 Avenue or by calling (780)-448-ESKS (3757) or for those from out of town at 1-800-667-3757.
