
Greg Porter, Justin Mallett Named American Association Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC -- The official statistician of the American Association, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Wichita Wingnuts OF Greg Porter and El Paso Diablos RHP Justin Mallet as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
This is the third Batter of the Week award for Porter this season. In six games this past week, Porter batted .476 with three home runs, seven RBI and six runs scored. He also collected 10 hits in 21 at-bats, slugged .905 and had on on-base percentage of .560. In Wednesday's 10-7 victory over the St. Paul Saints, the Roanoke, TX resident went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
Porter is having a fabulous 2009 campaign batting .380 with 16 home runs, 64 RBI and 113 hits. The 28-year-old leads or is tied for the league lead in five different offensive categories including batting average, home runs, hits, on-base percentage (.464) and slugging percentage (.613).
Mallett tossed a complete game shutout in the 5-0 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs this past Tuesday. The veteran righthander allowed three walks and five hits while fanning six Lincoln batters. Mallett is currently 4-4 on the year with a 3.68 ERA. The Sarasota, FL resident is tied for first in the American Association in complete games with three.
