
Greenville Takes Series Opener 9-1 on Wednesday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Greenville took the lead in the fifth and didn't look back, topping the BlueClaws 9-1 on Tuesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.
Jersey Shore (13-25) dropped their third straight game and fell to 12 games under .500 for the first time while Greenville (16-24) snapped a five game losing streak with the win.
The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from DJ Stewart.
Greenville scored two runs in the fifth on a single by Tyler McDonough to take a lead they would not relinquish. They added an unearned run off Andrew Schultz in the sixth n a single by Nicolas Northcut. Two walks and an RBI single by Alex Binelas led to a run off Dominic Pipkin in the seventh and JP Woodward allowed a run on a groundout by Nick Decker in the eighth.
The Drive added three more in the ninth including an RBI double by Ceddanne Rafaela and an RBI single by Binelas. All three were charged to Jason Ruffcorn.
Jersey Shore starter Kyle Glogoski, who was added to the roster earlier in the day, threw three scoreless innings with one walk and one strikeout. The New Zealand native had made two appearances with Clearwater before joining the BlueClaws, where he pitched eight games in 2019 with a 1.80 ERA.
Brian Van Belle (2-2) earned the win, allowing one run in five innings for the Drive.
Carlos Francisco (0-2) gave up three runs, one earned, and took the loss.
The teams continue their series on Wednesday morning at 11:05 am. RHP Griff McGarry starts for Jersey Shore.
