
Greensboro Sweeps the Gold

(GREENSBORO, NC) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets completed the series sweep against the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver Nuggets affiliate) with a 123-107 victory at the Novant Health Fieldhouse.
Greensboro (5-9) opened Friday's contest with an electric 20-6 run in the first quarter and never looked back. The Swarm ended the period with an impressive 42 points on 17-of-22 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Greensboro would go on to possess a commanding 26-point lead at the halftime break.
James Bouknight, on assignment from the Hornets, picked up his first double-double of the regular season with 21 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. In 10 games with the Swarm, Bouknight is averaging 16.9 points per game and has scored 20-plus points in three games this season.
In addition to Bouknight, it was a total team effort for the Swarm that ultimately propelled them to the win. In total five players recorded double-digit point performances: Kai Jones (21), Kobi Simmons (18), Isaiah Whaley (16), Theo Maledon (12) and Xavier Sneed (10).
Grand Rapids (4-12) stifled the Greensboro offense in the third quarter and cut the Swarm's lead to 13 points headed into the final frame. Notably, the Gold were led by Jared Butler who earned 36 points, a regular season high, while Adonis Arms also had a positive showing for the team with 25 points.
The Swarm will be back at Novant Health Fieldhouse on Sunday, February 5 at 4 p.m. matinee against the Windy City Bulls (Chicago Bulls affiliate).
