Greensboro Falls to Maine on Thanksgiving Eve

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, suffered a, 155-131, defeat to the Maine Red Claws on Wednesday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Swarm's record falls to 2-5 on the season while Maine improves to 6-1.

The Red Claws shot 58 percent for the game and hit 22-of-49 three pointers (45 percent) for a franchise record 155 points. Tremont Waters (21 points) and Wayne Blackshear (16 points) combined for 37 points in the first half, giving the Red Claws a, 83-57, advantage. Maine maintained its lead through the second half to secure the win. Waters finished with 33 points and seven assists while Blackshear ended with 20 points and five rebounds.

Caleb Martin, on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets, scored a team-high 30 points in 29 minutes. The Swarm starting five all scored in double figures as Kobi Simmons had 20 points, Robert Franks added 15, Thomas Welsh scored 13 and Jalen McDaniels (also on assignment) chipped in 11 in addition to the 30 from Martin. Off the bench, Max Montana had a career-high 14 points and Joe Chealey had 10.

Maine had eight players (Trey Davis - 18; Kaiser Gates - 14; Yante Maten - 14; Bryce Brown - 14; John Bohannon; Jaysean Paige - 14) score in the double digits including Waters and Blackshear. Maine had a big game on the boards by outrebounding Greensboro, 48-37.

Greensboro hits the road for a five-game road trip starting with the Capital City Go-Go on Friday, December 29, at 7:00 p.m.
