Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (8-11) returned home to begin a 7-game homestand Tuesday night, taking on the Kannapolis Intimidators (7-12).
Kannapolis scored early to take a 2-0 lead over Augusta, but shortstop Lucius Fox gave the GreenJackets crowd something to cheer about, with a 3-run home run in the third inning, his second of the season. The Intimidators, however, tied the score at three in the 4th inning on a groundout. Their big inning came in the 7th inning on a 3-run home run of their own by Corey Zangari.
Trailing by three runs in the 9th inning, Dylan Davis came around to score off a ground out by Seth Harrison, but the rally ended there and the Intimidators won 7-5. Michael Santos falls to 1- 2, 4.35 ERA on the year. Tyler Cyr pitched 0.2 innings in relief and Matthew Pope finished the final 2.1 innings. He pitched well, striking out four.
