Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - RHP Conner Greene (W, 2-2) carved out a quality start, and 3B Jason Leblebijian capped a five-run second inning with a home run to snap The Dunedin Blue Jays' (12-14) seven game losing streak on Thursday night with a 5-3 win against the Daytona Tortugas (10-16).
All of Dunedin's runs came in a five batter stretch in the second. 2B Dickie Joe Thon collected his first two RBIs of the season with a single up that middle. Two batters later, it was Leblebijian's blast to center that led the Jays to their biggest run output in any inning this season.
Greene scattered three runs (two earned) on four hits over six innings, his longest outing of 2016. He used a sharp fastball that touched 96 mph, helping strikeout four Tortugas. RHP Adonys Cardona (H, 3) and RHP Carlos Martinez (Sv, 2) locked down the final three innings without allowing a run.
CF Anthony Alford collected his first base knock of 2016 with an opposite field single in the first inning against RHP Tyler Mahle (L, 2-2). Mahle pitched well outside of the second inning, going six as well while striking out 5.
The two teams are back at it again on Friday with first pitch coming at 6:30. Dunedin's pitcher is TBD while the Tortugas will throw RHP Keury Mella.
