Erie SeaWolves News Release

With a solid outing from starting pitcher Chad Green, the 'Wolves were able to take game three, and the series from the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

The SeaWolves would open up the scoring in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Curt Powell would reach base on an error and Connor Harrell would poke a line drive single to get runners on the corners for the 'Wolves. A Wade Gaynor fielder's choice would then score Powell and put Erie up 1-0.

Richmond would then answer back in the top of the third inning tacking on a run of their own. Javier Herrera would lead the inning off with a single, and Eliezer Zambrano would follow up just a batter later with a single of his own. Herrera, at third, would then score on a squeeze bunt by Kelby Tomlinson to tie the score up 1-1.

The score would remain tied until the bottom of the fifth in which Erie broke the game open, putting up four runs. Harrell would lead the inning off with a single, and a wild pickoff move by Joe Biagini would move him to second. Harold Castro would then reach on an error, scoring Harrell. Wynton Bernard, Jason Krizan, and Dean Green would then knock three consecutive singles giving the 'Wolves a comfortable 5-1.

Richmond would be able to put on one more run in the top of the seventh inning knocking Erie starter Chad Green out of the game after sixth and two thirds innings pitched. After seven, the score would be 5-2 'Wolves, and that is how it would remain.

Erie reliever Jeff Farrell would seal the game for Erie picking up his third save on the year. With the win Chad Green improves to 2-5 on the season while Richmond starter Joe Biagini takes the loss and drops to 2-3 on the year.
