(Edmonton) The defending Grey Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos announced today the signing of former NFL lineman Jabari Issa.
Issa finished a stellar college career with 97 tackles and 11 sacks while anchoring a defensive line that finished second in the Pac-10 in yards allowed. Originally selected in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, Issa saw action in 12 games that season and recorded 17 tackles, 1 sack.
In 2001 with the Cardinals he appeared in 13 games (five as a starter) and finished the year with 22 tackles. Issa was left unprotected for the expansion draft and was acquired by the Houston Texans in 2002. He was released at the end of Houston's training camp and spent the spring playing for NFL Europe's Barcelona Dragons. Issa signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in June of 2003 and was released in August.
