Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
He's back with a point to prove. Wide receiver Damon Hodge has agreed to terms with the Tiger-Cats, after playing part of the 2003 season in Hamilton.
Hodge, is a 6-foot-1, 205 pound native of Thomastown, Alabama, who spent two years in the Dallas Cowboys camp, then, played with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, before ending up with the Ottawa Renegades then the Tiger-Cats.
"I'm so excited to be back in Hamilton," said Hodge. "I want to prove that last year was a fluke."
Last season, as a Tiger-Cat, Hodge had 16 catches for 278 yards. His best single-game performance, was six catches for 118 yards.
Hodge says he got his love of football from his grandmother. "She was a strong, vibrant woman, and while other kids were riding their bikes and playing, she would be tossing the football with me," he recalled. "Matter of fact, when I started playing football in high school, she and my mom got in a bit of a disagreement. My mom didn't want me to play and my grandmother finally won her over."
Hodge may leave his mark another way as well. He played the trombone as part of his high school marching band, and, although he hasn't played in a few years, he does have plans to perhaps find a good used trombone at a store in Hamilton. He promises he won't play it at Tiger-Cat training camp, which begins May 22.
