Grasshoppers Take Down the Hot Rods, 10-8 on Thursday Evening

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Grasshoppers took down the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 10-8 on Thursday, August 17. The Grasshoppers improved to 22-22 in the second half of the season while the Hot Rods fell to 27-17 as Bowling Green outhit Greensboro 11-9.

Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Jase Bowen as he went 2-5 with a double, four RBI, and one run scored. Following close behind was catcher Wyatt Hendrie as he went 2-3 with one home run, one RBI, and two runs scored. Nick Cimillo also recorded a home run for the Grasshoppers.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Derek Diamond as he tallied six strikeouts and gave up eight hits, six earned runs, and two free bases on 5.2 innings of work. Cy Nielson recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and improved to 4-2 on the season.

Aneudy Cortorreal took the loss for the Hot Rods and fell to 2-3 on the season.

The Grasshoppers continue their home series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods tomorrow Friday, August 18, at 6:30 PM.
