
Grasshoppers Split Doubleheader with Dash on Friday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers split a doubleheader against the Winston-Salem Dash on Friday, May 22, at First National Bank Field. Winston-Salem claimed a 6-3 victory in game one before Greensboro responded with an 8-4 win in game two. With the split, both clubs moved to 26-17 on the season.
GAME ONE
Greensboro dropped the opening game of the doubleheader, 6-3, as Winston-Salem held a 6-3 advantage in hits. The Grasshoppers committed two errors, while the Dash had one.
Infielder Murf Gray led Greensboro offensively, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI. Catcher Easton Carmichael added a 1-for-3 performance with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Infielder Tony Blanco Jr. recorded the club's only other hit.
Outfielder George Wolkow paced the Dash offense, going 2-for-2 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Additional hits for Winston-Salem came from Caleb Bonemer, Boston Smith, Grant Magill, and Arxy Hernandez.
Right-handed pitcher Seth Hernandez started on the mound for Greensboro, striking out five while allowing three hits, three earned runs, and four walks. Hernandez was charged with the loss and fell to 1-1 on the season.
Right-hander Drew McDaniel got the start for Winston-Salem, recording five strikeouts while allowing two hits, two earned runs, and three walks across 3.2 innings. Aric McAtee earned the win to improve to 2-2, while Garrett Wrightcollected his first save of the season.
GAME TWO
Greensboro responded in game two with an 8-4 victory over Winston-Salem. The Grasshoppers outhit the Dash 6-5 despite committing two errors.
Gray powered the Greensboro offense, going 2-for-3 with two home runs, two RBI, and three runs scored. Additional hits for the Grasshoppers came from Axiel Plaz, Jared Jones, Jhonny Severino, and Brian Sanchez.
Infielder Eblin led the Dash at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Additional hits for Winston-Salem were recorded by Kyle Lodise, Wolkow, and Kaleb Freeman.
Right-handed pitcher Cameron Keshock earned the win for Greensboro after striking out five and allowing just two hits over five innings. Keshock improved to 2-2 on the season.
Left-handed pitcher Liam Paddack started for Winston-Salem, striking out four while allowing two hits, six earned runs, and three walks over 2.2 innings. Paddack took the loss and fell to 2-1 on the year.
