
Grasshoppers Fall 5-3 to the Crawdads Friday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Hickory Crawdads, 5-3 on Friday, April 19. The Crawdads improved to 5-8 on the season while the Grasshoppers dropped to 8-5. Hickory outhit Greensboro 6-5 as the Grasshoppers had one mishap.
Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Sammy Siani as he hit .357 with one hit and one free base. Hits for Greensboro were also tallied by Jack Brannigan, Termarr Johnson, Charles McAdoo, and Maikol Escotto.
Infielder Jayce Easley led the Crawdads offense going 2-3 with two RBI. Following close behind was Sebastian Walcott as he went 2-5 with a double and one run scored. Hits for Hickory were also recorded by Quincy Scott and Marco Soto.
Starting on the rubber for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher J.P. Massey as he tallied two strikeouts and gave up one hit, four runs, and three free bases on 0.2 innings of work. Massey took the loss for the Grasshoppers and fell to 1-1 on the season.
Starting on the mound for Hickory was righthanded pitcher Winston Santos as he recorded 12 strikeouts and gave up one hit and two free bases in five innings of work. Santos tallied the win for the Crawdads and improved to 2-1 on the season. Larson Kindreich recorded his second save for Hickory.
