
Goulet Leads Wildcats to First Place

Charlottetown, PE - Stephane Goulet (29th, 30th,PP, 31st) scored a hat trick to lead the Moncton Wildcats to a 5 - 2 victory over the PEI Rocket on Tuesday at the Charlottetown Civic Center, in front of a crowd of 2,921. Moncton improved their record to 27 - 10 - 0 - 2 = 56 pts to move into a first in the East Division.
Moncton led 2 - 0 after the first period and 4 - 2 after 40 minutes. Adam Pineault (15th) and Jerome Samson (8th) rounded out the Wildcat's scoring summary. The PEI Rocket received goals from Geoff Walker (3rd,UA), and Chad Locke (3rd). Pineault added two assists for the Wildcats, with singles coming from Samson, Scott Judson, Keith Yandle, Brad Marchand, Maxime Belanger and Andrew MacDonald.
The Wildcats outshot the Rocket 39 - 19, including 14 - 5 in the first period, 15 - 9 in the second and 10 - 6 in the third. Josh Tordjman blocked 17 of 19 shots he faced to improve his season record to 16 -17. Ryan Mior allowed four goals on 38 shots in 59:50 to suffer the loss and see his record fall to 11 - 24. Moncton was 1 for 9 on the powerplay, while PEI went 0 for 5.
The game's three stars were #1 - Stephane Goulet, #2 - Adam Pineault and #3 - Georgg Walker.
Moncton returns to action on Friday when they host the Saint John Sea Dogs in a 7 pm contest at the Moncton Coliseum.
Moncton Wildcats have re-scheduled a home-to-home series with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, due to a scheduling conflict at the Moncton Coliseum. Moncton will now host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 pm. Moncton will then travel to Acadie-Bathurst on Friday, March 3rd for a 7:30 pm match-up at the K.C. Irving Regional Center.
