Amarillo Gorillas News Release
[Amarillo, TX] - The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the club has signed forward Ryan Costanzo and defenseman Galloway Carroll.
Costanzo, a 6'0", 198 pound forward from Montrose, British Columbia played last season with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Last season, Costanzo recorded 25 goals and 36 assists, for a total of 61 points in 47 games played. Prior to his time in the BCHL, he played for the Calgary Hitmen (2005/06), the Vancouver Giants (2004/05), and the Tri-City Americans (2002/03-2004/05) of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
"Ryan is a big, strong kid. He brings major junior experience from his time in the Western Hockey League and he was one of the top performers in the British Columbia Hockey League." Head Coach Joe Ferras added, "Ryan was a go-to-guy for the Penticton Vees in the chase for the Royal Bank Cup (Canadian junior championship trophy). Penticton's Head Coach Bruno Campese spoke extremely high of Ryan and I am looking forward to his addition to our club."
Carroll, a 6'1" 190 pound defenseman from Edmonton, Alberta skated four seasons for Manhattanville College (NCAA Division III). Last season, Carroll recorded eight points in 26 games for the Valiants. From 2002/03-2005/06, he totaled 39 points in 94 games played.
Ferras said of Carroll, "Galloway is a steady defenseman that works hard everyday. He moves the puck well and is an all-around defenseman that should contribute on special teams. Galloway comes from a great program in Manhattanville and he is a player that a lot of teams had on their radar. We are looking forward to him making an adjustment from the college to the pro game."
