San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---An Eric Gonzales RBI single in the top of the 10th inning gave the Rio Grande Valley White Wings a 10-9 win over the Colts and tied the teams atop the North American League's South Division Saturday night at Foster Field.

Gabriel Ortiz (3) helped Rio to an early lead, smacking a grand slam off of Colts starter Brian Henschel in the second inning. Landon Camp (22) answered for San Angelo in the bottom of the inning with a two run shot that plated Daryl Jones, who led the inning off with a double down the left field line.

The Colts cut it to a one-run lead when Camp singled to drive in Cory Patton in the fourth, but solo home runs by White Wings Wilson Batista (12) and Edgar Trejo (10) put Rio back in front 5-3 after five.

In the bottom of the sixth San Angelo tied it up. C.J. Beatty walked to start the inning, followed by a Patton single. Jones and Brian Nichols each had RBI hits before Camp delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at six.

After White Wings manager Eddie Dennis pulled starter David Cross, it became a display of power out of the bullpens. Luis Chirinos came on for Rio to strikeout five straight Colt hitters, while San Angelo's Chace Vacek recorded all five outs he recorded via the strikeout as well.

Sean Kramer came on to pitch the ninth for the Colts and after striking out the first two hitters he faced, Wilmer Pino walked and David Peralta singled. The next hitter was Leivi Ventura (18) who went deep to put the White Wings on top 9-6. In the bottom of the inning Beatty (17) tied it with a home run off Rio closer Edgar Martinez, before Gonzales delivered the game-winner in the first extra frame.

Martinez (2-2, 2.05) was the winner in two innings of relief, while Kramer (2-5, 7.23) took the loss after he allowed four runs in two innings out of the San Angelo bullpen.
