Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Jimmy Hurst is going back to the league where he experienced his greatest baseball success.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that Hurst has been traded to the Atlantic League's Camden Riversharks for future considerations. The move leaves with Winnipeg with 20 players on its roster, split evenly between pitchers and position players.

A Northern League All-Star in 2006 after batting .307 with a team-best 18 home runs and a league-best 78 runs batted in, Hurst was hitting just .236 this year with four home runs in 32 games and a team-low .293 on-base percentage.

Hurst made Atlantic League history in 2002 with Newark when he won the triple crown after leading the league in hitting, home runs and runs batted in.

Winnipeg is back in action tonight against Calgary in game two of a three-game series. Following this visit from the Vipers, Winnipeg welcomes South Division-leading Gary for five games starting Friday.

Great seats are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the ballpark box office, by calling 780-3333 or by visiting ticketmaster.ca.
