Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

With July 1 fast approaching, what better time for another Canadian to be added to the Goldeyes roster.

Manager Hal Lanier announced today the signing of pitcher Ryan Brnardic. Recently released by the Orioles, the 23-year-old reliever spent two years in the Baltimore system after the American League club drafted him in 2003.

Brnardic, 23, hails from La Salle, an Ontario town not far from Windsor. He is a career 4-2 with a 4.00 earned run average in 29 appearances at the Rookie and A-ball levels.

Drafted out of Southeastern Oklahoma State, an NCAA Div. II in the Lone Star Conference, Brnardic could also see action with Winnipeg on offence. He wielded a mean stick in college, batting .369 as a senior while hitting 14 home runs and driving in a team-best 67 runs.

As Brnardic was signed, pitcher Steve Murray was moved to the Inactive List to deal once more with elbow problems that plagued him earlier in the year.
