Goldeyes Fall back under .500

August 22, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

That .500 mark seems to be just a little too slippery to climb over these days.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (42-43) split a four-game series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (49-34) with a 9-6 loss in Fargo Sunday afternoon.

Winnipeg held a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning, but watched Eric Campbell hit a two-run home run to give Fargo the lead for good.

After getting down 4-1 after the third inning, the Goldeyes scored three runs in fifth inning to tie the game and then went up 6-5 with two more in the sixth.

Kevin West and Justin Justice led Winnipeg with three hits each, while Luis Alen had a pair of RBI.

Goldeyes starter Jason Mackintosh (1-5, 5.40) allowed seven runs, five earned, over five and two-thirds innings and is tagged with the loss. Jake Laber (9-4, 4.17) picked up the win for Fargo, while Casey Hoorelbeke grabbed the save.

The Fish remain in the fifth place in the Northern League, eight games out of first place. The Goldeyes with either be half a game or a game and a half out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northern League, depending on how the fourth-place Joliet JackHammers do today against the Kansas City T-Bones.

Winnipeg begins a three-game series against the Rockford RiverHawks Monday night at Canwest Park. Great seats for all Goldeyes games are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 780-3333.
