Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
Waldorf, MD - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs placed outfielder Adam Godwin on the disabled list today (retroactive to June 24th) due to a broken right thumb. Godwin suffered the injury on June 24th against Long Island while sliding into third base. The timetable for his return will be anywhere from 4-8 weeks.
Godwin was hitting .313 at the time of his injury with a homer and nine RBI. He had been acquired in a trade from the Lancaster Barnstormers on June 3rd for pitcher John Halama. In 20 games with the Blue Crabs, Godwin was hitting .341 and had registered a base hit in 19 of those games.
The Blue Crabs will wrap-up their three-game series with the Road Warriors on today at 2:05. The Blue Crabs will send righty Nick Green (4-2, 4.59 ERA) to the hill against right-hander Christopher Mason (1-1, 7.30 ERA) for the Road Warriors. The game can be heard on www.somdbluecrabs.com.
