Camden Riversharks News Release

John VanBenschoten threw 7.2 innings and kept the Riversharks hitters silent as the York Revolution finished off a three-game sweep at the hands of Camden by the final score of 3-1. The 'Sharks remain winless in six attempts at Sovereign Bank Stadium this season.

VanBenschoten (3-1) allowed just one run to pick up his third straight victory as he outdueled Riversharks' starter Carlos Vasquez.

Camden scored their only run in the top of the 1st when Drew Macias scored on Danny Richar's 4-6-3 double play to give the 'Sharks a 1-0 lead.

It wasn't until the bottom of the 5th that the Revolution got on the scoreboard. Former Rivershark Chris Walker brought home Octavio Martinez with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

Walker was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game.

York took the lead in the bottom of the 6th with a two-out rally against Vasquez. After Chris Nowak walked, Val Majewski tripled to give the Revolution a 2-1 lead. Majewski scored three pitches later when Vasquez uncorked a wild pitch to make it 3-1.

Vasquez (3-3) took the loss giving up three runs on six hits in six innings of action.

Ricardo Gomez pitched the final 1.1 innings for the Revolution and notched his first save of the season.

The Camden Riversharks return to Campbell's Field Tuesday, July 5th to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Individual and group tickets can be purchased online at www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
