
Goaltender Steve Christie Returns to Ice Flyers for Playoffs

Pensacola, Fla. - March 27, 2012 - Goaltender Steve Christie has returned to the Pensacola Ice Flyers after being loaned to the Central Hockey League's Tulsa Oilers since the beginning of January. His arrival in Pensacola comes three days before the first series' opener on Friday at 7:05 p.m. in Pensacola versus the Mississippi Surge.
Christie signed with the Ice Flyers on November 23, and recorded a 34-save shutout in a 4-0 victory in his first start in goal. He appeared in 14 games and had a record of 11-2 with two shutouts, 2.08 goals against average and 0.932 save percentage. He earned SPHL Player of the Week honors for December 12-18 and was the SPHL Player of the Month for December. On January 13, he was loaned to the Oilers of the CHL.
To create roster space for Christie, Goaltender Corey Milan has been released. The Ice Flyers claimed Milan off waivers on January 30 after being placed on waivers the day before by the Mississippi Surge. Milan's record in Pensacola was 16 games played with a record of 7-7-2, 2.93 goals against average and 0.891 save percentage.
Game 1 versus the Mississippi Surge is Friday, March 30 at 7:05 p.m. in Pensacola and Game 2 is played Saturday, March 31 at 7:05 p.m. in Biloxi. If needed, the third game will be played in Pensacola at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 1.
