
Goaltender Person Claimed Off Waivers from South Carolina

Peoria, Ill. (March 2, 2005) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that fourth-year goaltender Ryan Person has been claimed off waivers from the South Carolina Stingrays.
Person â a 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba â has spent time with three ECHL teams (South Carolina, Fresno Falcons & Greenville Grrrowl) and recorded a 5-4 home shootout loss for Greenville against the Mississippi Sea Wolves on January 22. The 26-year-old netminder opened the season with the Asheville Aces of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), posting a 5-12-1 record with one shutout.
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., the Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm in the first of two in a row between the clubs at Carver Arena. It is Disco Night, and the team will wear special Disco-themed jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to benefit Counseling & Family Services. It is also Circle K Team Photo Night, and the first 4,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Team Photo. Local favorites "Jamsammich" will perform in a post-game concert. On Saturday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m., the Rivermen and the Storm battle again. It is Church Night presented by the Berean Bookstore, and "Jars of Clay" will perform in a post-game Christian concert. It is also Circle K Team Photo Night, and the first 4,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Team Photo. On Sunday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m., Peoria welcomes the Trenton Titans to Carver Arena. It is the fourth and final Peoria Journal Star/Insight Media/InPlay Family Day. Kids 12 & Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission, and there are $2.50 Kids Meals. Dora the Explorer will appear courtesy of Nickelodeon.
