SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah Sand Gnats overcame an early two-run deficit in a big way as they downed the Charleston RiverDogs 10-3 Wednesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Bryan Lambert Jr. picked up his third win of the season, allowing just two runs in seven innings while scattering nine hits and a walk. Lambert also struck out five as he grabbed his first win since July 16. Adam Carr closed out the game, giving up one run on two hits in two innings out of the bullpen.

The Sand Gnats fell into an 0-2 hole in the top of the first but responded in the bottom of the frame with three runs of their own off Leonard Davis' home run. Davis finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs and now shares the team lead with eight long balls.

After scoring one run in the second, Savannah pulled away in the sixth, scoring five runs off five hits, including a two-run double by John Poppert. The catcher finished the night 2-for-3 and also scored a run.

Eight of Savannah's nine hitters recorded a base-hit in the game, and six different Gnats drove in at least one run.

The Sand Gnats and RiverDogs play the series finale Thursday at 7:05 p.m. as Savannah sends left-hander John Lannan to the mound to face Charleston southpaw Zach Kroenke. Thursday is Savannah's final home game of the season and is Fan Appreciation Night, featuring a team photo giveaway, presented by Coca-Cola, post-game fireworks and other special giveaways throughout the game.
